She sang a stunning Dutchman at the Met in 2000. We cheered her till we were hoarse. We had to wait 10 years to hear her again NYC. Her Ariadne in 2010 was decent/passable. 6 years later her Turandot, Elektra, and Isolde were not enjoyable. I think this Salome performance started the vocal decline. This is not WISE singing.

Another situation of painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa. Costumes are idiotic; Sieglinde is dressed like a kitchen worker in a soviet orphanage. Did Wagner specify that the sword was supposed to be made out of yellow plastic? (No wonder it broke.) Wotan's staff looks like the sticks we used to find in the woods to play army with. How many treaties are carved in it? 1? 2? Grow up.

I'm so glad to find this. It's one of my all time favorite operas! Why isn't it performed more?? Tragic!

Why is a Juan Diego Flórez impersonator attempting to sing Wotan? We are doomed, we need Juan Diego to sing this!!!

I never really liked the Jewel aria, this is the best aria by far in every Faust production and so powerful; ascending to Heaven, choosing good over evil. But the director had some crazy chorus moves going on here (all that jerky madhouse stuff) . The production was a little strange altogether, but Andrea Rost is a fantastic Marguerite with her sky-splitting voice. I still remember watching it in Budapest 2015 and she really stole the show.

Too bad the poster was also too lazy to give us the cast information in the notes section.

Very irritating the sticks..very thin horses..and the voices not good either..

Hers was a naturally God given fully dramatic voice. Not manufactured. With that said, that would mean nothing if she had not been the intelligent sensitive artist she was who knew her instrument inside out.

It's mention that this is the Bergen Phil with Edward Gardner version in the desc. However, this is the 2020 München Statsoper production. I forgot the conductor, but just so that's noted.

Probably the worst setting and costumes ive ever seen. This makes modernized shakespeare theatre look decent.

Sorry it lost me when it had Aschenbach actually interacting physically with the Tadzio dancer. The whole point of the opera is the torment felt by not being able to touch the boy and the horror involved about his feelings concerning him. It just makes the whole opera pointless having all this physical interplay.

Wir waren hier in der Premiere. Orchestral und gesanglich absolut hochklassig. Stuttgart hat eines der besten Opernhäuser in Europa, nicht zu vergessen. Wir sind darüber hinaus der Meinung, dass man Oper nicht mehr konventionell inszenieren darf. Wie langweilig wäre das auch? Die Inszenierung des ersten Aktes der Walküre allerdings: absolut ein Fehlgriff! So etwas katastrophales haben wir in Liveopern oder Opern im Fernsehen noch nie gesehen. Der zweite und dritte Akt sind angenehmer inszeniert.
